In this lecture, I will introduce the main challenges of microscopy data analysis: 1) the wide diversity of image types and the standards needed to interpret them, 2) the size of modern datasets and how next-generation file formats attempt to make it manageable, and 3) the difficulty of capturing visual information into meaningful measurements and the potential of modern machine learning to help.
